In order to provide outstanding dental care to patients, the oral healthcare team must take a holistic approach to the needs of the patient. The issue of polypharmacy must be taken into account as this points to complex medical issues. Patients that present with complex medical issues must be treated very carefully.
In order to provide this care, there must be sufficient time at each appointment to discuss medications, health issues, treatment limitations, and expected outcomes.
