Ultrasonic debridement workflow impacts successful calculus and biofilm removal as well as aerosol management so it’s crucial that clinicians make evidence-based decisions about when, where, why, and how best to implement ultrasonics.
BYOT (bring your own typodont) and join Dani as she facilitates discussions, gives live demonstrations, and leads interactive activities with a focus on client/site selection, root anatomy considerations, instrument options and technique choices.
Course Objectives:
- Examine assessment data to determine which clients/sites would benefit from ultrasonic debridement.
- Analyze ultrasonic instrument designs and characteristics to identify which instruments are best suited for your practice.
- Demonstrate a minimum of 3 technique modifications that can improve deposit removal, limit ultrasonic treatment time and reduce the use of hands instruments as an adjunct.
- Describe how to maximize the life of your ultrasonic instruments and what to do to ensure prompt replacement.
- Compare and contrast extra-oral and intra-oral HVE equipment and recognize devices that have the potential to capture a high percentage of aerosols, droplets, and splatter.
